Visiting Towson

Towson University, located in the heart of Towson, Md., welcomes visitors to campus. Each year more than 800,000 people come to Towson to participate in the university’s many educational, scholarly, cultural, recreational and athletic activities.

Towson is within easy easy driving distance of major East Coast cities. The campus is eight miles north of downtown Baltimore, about an hour north of Washington, D.C., and four hours south of New York City. 

Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), located about 45 minutes south of Towson, handles air traffic from all major carriers. Train service is available via Amtrak in and out of  Baltimore’s Penn Station, 20 minutes south of campus. The Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle is a free transportation service for students, faculty and staff at six participating schools in the region. The shuttle's red route goes from Towson University to Penn Station.
