The Towson University Office of Public Safety is made up of men and women dedicated to protecting and supporting our campus community. We are comprised of the Towson University Police Department, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and Access Control, which oversees building access and safety cameras.
Contact the TUPD immediately if you see, experience, or even suspect a crime on campus. We are available 24/7 at 410-704-4444 or publicsafety AT_TOWSON. You can also contact us using the SaferMobility app or one of the campus’s emergency blue light phones.
The university distributes emergency communications whenever there is an urgent incident or imminent threat on campus. We publicly share up-to-date crime incidents, statistics and advisories on our Community Safety Dashboard. A more in-depth description of annual crimes, fires, and safety programs is included in our annual Clery Report.
Safety starts with awareness. Students, faculty and staff automatically receive emergency text alerts. We encourage the TU community to download the SaferMobility app to stay safe on campus. You can also access on-demand police escorts, the campus SafeRide, safety tips and videos and a wide range of safety services to reduce your chance of becoming a victim of crime.
Watch our award-winning active shooter video below for proven strategies on staying safe in an emergency. The Emergency Resources Guide provides guidance on responding to a range of emergencies.
Students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled to receive Towson University's emergency text alerts. Parents, community members and other non-affiliated individuals can register to receive emergency text alerts by completing the Emergency Text Alert Sign Up form.
Our 1-minute safety videos offer useful tips and resources for common crime concerns on TU’s campus.
