Academic Advising Center

Information for Transfer Students

As you plan to transfer to Towson, be sure to work with the adviser from your transfer college. Until Towson's Office of Admissions has evaluated your coursework, we won't know exactly what you need. If you are transferring from a Maryland Community College, many courses have been evaluated already and can be found on ARTSYS.

Representatives from Towson University's Academic Advising Center visit many Maryland Community Colleges each semester to talk with those planning to transfer. Check with your community college's Academic Advising office.

Because we cannot give specific advice until the Office of Admission has evaluated incoming coursework, we do not meet with incoming transfer students until the Transfer Program.

Your first on-campus activity, the Transfer Program, will introduce you to the campus and to your schedule of classes—you will meet with an adviser to select courses that work for your program of study.

You will be assigned to an adviser who will work with you once you begin your studies; this advisor will be listed in your profile on PeopleSoft, our online Student Information System. If, for some reason, the adviser is not there, check with the major department or, if you are an OPEN major, with the Academic Advising Center in The Lecture Hall building.
