Performance Evaluations

Non-exempt Employees

Employee performance is evaluated using the Employee Performance Review and Development process or EPRD.  The rating period starts on April 1 and runs through March 31.  This process provides a method and form to evaluate employee performance in a manner that is individually tailored to the employee.  Supervisors must inform employees of the factors they will be evaluated on and any goals and objectives for the year.  Supervisors are encouraged to give the employee feedback on their performance throughout the year.  At the end of the rating period, the supervisor completes the form and discusses the evaluation with the employee.

Exempt Employees

Exempt employees are evaluated based on goals and objectives previously agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.  These goals should be in writing and reviewed throughout the year for any necessary modifications.  Supervisors are encouraged to give their employees feedback on their performance throughout the year.  At the end of the rating period, the supervisor completes the Exempt Performance Evaluation Form or writes a narrative-style evaluation and discusses the evaluation with the employee.

Performance evaluations are sent to the Office of Human Resources and are filed in the employee’s personnel file.
