Two new residence halls are being constructed in the West Village area to provide apartment-style accommodations for approximately 700 upper level students. The buildings will be located west of Towson Run apartments and Douglass House. Combined, they will contain 325,500 gross square feet of space, including a mix of two-and four bedroom apartments with single-occupancy bedrooms and shared bathroom, kitchen and living space. Each floor will have communal lounges as well as meeting rooms for studying.
Burdick Expansion $40 million
Estimated completion: fall 2017
This project will nearly double the size of Burdick Hall with a 94,000 square foot addition which will include two multi-purpose athletic courts, an indoor running track, a mind and body studio for yoga and Pilates classes, a dedicated cycling studio and a combat studio. An accompanying 8,000 square foot renovation will update existing offices and the mezzanine level of the existing fitness center. Construction will elevate the grounds on the south side of Burdick, completing the pedestrian walkway that extends from the West Village to York Road.
