Returning Undergraduates

To apply for all available aid programs for returning undergraduate students, complete these application steps.

You must reapply for many aid programs every year except for renewable scholarships.

(If you are a first-time FAFSA applicant, you should also review the General Eligibility Requirements for federal aid.)

Application Steps

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.
  2. Maryland residents should also apply for state aid programs from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).  Students and parents must be Maryland residents. Many MHEC aid programs require a FAFSA by March 1, and many also require additional applications in their MDCAPS system.
  3. After you file your FAFSA, your FAFSA gets selected for verification, promptly complete this verification process.  If you are selected, we can't offer you any aid until your verification is complete.
  4. Apply for TU Foundation Scholarships from private donors.
  5. Explore TU's Departmental Scholarships.
  6. Use our Scholarship Seeker to search for additional TU and MHEC scholarships.
  7. Search for other Private Scholarships.
  8. If applicable, apply for military benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  9. We start sending Award Notifications to returning students by April 1st.
  10. To review and accept your awards, follow the instructions in your Your Award Guide.  It explains everything you need to know about accepting, receiving, and retaining your awards.
