Health care reforms, including the Affordable Care Act, are changing the rules on health care delivery in the future. The business side of the health care system is just as important as the clinical side in  ensuring patients receive the best possible care. Through the health care management major, you will learn more about the infrastructure, finances and operations of health care systems and what it takes to keep them running smoothly. 

The health care management field can positively impact individual health and on the administration and cost of health care. Health care management professionals plan, direct and coordinate medical and health services and must adapt quickly to changes in health care laws, regulations and technology. Graduates have pursued professional positions at hospitals, long-term care communities and managed care organizations, while others have found positions in finance, marketing, insurance companies, quality management and human resource management.

Internship

Your internship is a web-supported, supervised educational experience in a health service organization that completes the health care management program. This 12-unit course is a major requirement that requires a full-time (40 hours per week) commitment to a work experience. During the internship, you will observe professionals in the field, participate in decision-making processes, develop personal contacts, and demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
