Physical Education Major

Over the past two decades, physical education has undergone a transformation in rigor and focus and now is recognized as essential to a young person’s overall education experience and a foundation for lifelong healthy living (SHAPE America).

The physical education major provides students with a planned, sequential, PreK-12 standards-based program of curricula and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge and behaviors for active living, physical fitness, sportsmanship, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence (SHAPE America). Our majors are prepared to effectively plan and deliver this standards-based content and instruction.

Towson University’s physical education major is nationally accredited and recognized by SHAPE America (The Society of Health and Physical Educators)
