Hannah Frank always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She also knew she wanted to receive her teacher training at Towson University. Now that she’s completed her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, she says her undergraduate experience exceeded her expectations.

“My adviser and my professors were welcoming and committed to helping me succeed,” Frank says. “I could always go to them for advice and ideas. Our education classes were in small classrooms instead of large lecture halls, so there was a lot of faculty-student engagement. It all made for a truly personal experience.”

“I also liked the fact that I had the same teachers more than once, so they got to know me and I got to know them. They’re interested in helping students become the best teachers they can be.”

“ My experiences at Towson are helping me to accomplish my dream of becoming a teacher. ”

Frank also established good relationships with her fellow students. As part of her teacher training, she was a member of two different cohort groups. She liked the fact that cohort members not only take the same classes together, they also student-teach within the same school system. Frank says this helped her learn what it’s like to teach in other grades and schools.

As an intern, Frank appreciated the hands-on experiences of planning and implementing lesson plans, collaborating with teachers, administrators and families, and participating in school-wide events.  Now, as a new teacher at Dundalk Elementary School, she is confident that her time at Towson will play a role in her future success – and that of her future students.

“My experiences at Towson are helping me to accomplish my dream of becoming a teacher, just as the university has for countless other teachers over the past 150 years.”
