News/Interesting Tidbits

  • The 2008 Mid-Atlantic American College of Sports Medicine Conference will be held in Harrisburg, PA.  At this year’s conference two of our senior Exercise Science majors will be presenting results from our current project investigating validity and reliability of physical activity monitoring resources for the visually impaired
  • During the Minimester of 2009 Carrie Albright and Jessica Braunstein will lead a group of Exercise Science and Sport Management majors on a study abroad program to New Zealand and Australia.  This program features guest lectures from leading sport executives and site visits to a variety of sport and performance-related locations in order to foster a cross-cultural perspective on sport and human performance.
  • In collaboration with Dr. Joshua Newman, we are currently writing a book chapter investigating the pedagogical methods used in higher education (Kinesiology programs) in dealing with the obesity epidemic, and the consequences of these methods.  This chapter will be part of a larger publication focusing on multiple ways of looking at culturally relevant pedagogy.
