TOWSON, Md. (September 2, 2009) - The Office of Sponsored Programs & Research (OSPR) welcomes both new and returning faculty, staff and students for the 2009-10 academic year. Before we get too busy in our educational pursuits, OSPR would like to take this opportunity to highlight its services and encourage participation. OSPR promotes and supports the university’s mission of research, outreach and service by providing administrative and support services to faculty and staff seeking internal and external funding.
With the OSPR weekly newsletter, Alive Line, the campus community is informed about upcoming funding opportunities and events of interest. If you are currently not receiving the Alive Line, please send a request to email@example.com. For other research possibilities, please visit the OSPR Web site. Located at “Research and Funding Opportunities” are three funding search engines which allow users to seek fellowships and grants tailored to their specific subject matter and needs. Also available at the OSPR site, “Research Highlights” and "News” will familiarize readers with ongoing research, service and outreach activities being undertaken here at Towson. Annually, TU promotes various internal funding opportunities to support scholarly pursuits and teaching innovation. OSPR will inform and assist faculty with applying for these programs.
When applying for funding, OSPR can assist with proposal preparation. In adherence to internal and sponsor guidelines, services include budget preparation, proposal writing and grant submission, and subcontracting assistance. Both the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) are administered through OSPR. The OSPR staff can assist with inquiries regarding animal and human subject research. At “Resources for Researchers” additional forms and information are available. For successful applicants, OSPR will provide administrative support throughout the life of the award insuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations. Working closely with the OSPR and the principal investigator, the College of Graduate Studies and Research Finance Office provides fiscal administration of grant awards, including reporting and invoicing.
Throughout the year, OSPR will work to support
both faculty and staff needs while protecting the
university's interests. If you are interested
in scheduling a one on one meeting to discuss
your scholarly interests and pursuits or
explore how OSPR can help you, please contact
us at firstname.lastname@example.org or
