The U.S. News & World Report 2017 America’s Best Colleges guide ranks Towson University 14th in its Top Public Schools – Regional Universities (North) category, placing it among the best of the 62 institutions surveyed.

The university occupies 51st place in the magazine’s list of 195 private and public regional institutions in the North.

In addition, TU is ranked in America’s Best Colleges’ Best Colleges for Veterans, placing 29th among 54 public and private regional institutions in the North. These are the top-ranked schools in the 2017 Best Colleges rankings that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members apply for, pay for and complete their degrees.

TU is included in the magazine’s unranked list of A-Plus Schools for B Students. According to U.S. News, “these colleges, which have strong ratings, accept a significant number of students with nonstratospheric transcripts.”

“The America’s Best Colleges rankings are a direct reflection of our more than 100 outstanding graduate and undergraduate degree programs, our excellent faculty and our students’ strong academic performance,” said TU President Kim Schatzel.

“We are especially proud of being recognized again as one of the nation’s best colleges for veterans,” Schatzel added. “As an institution, we want to do everything we can to help our servicemen and women, whether active duty or veteran, earn their college degrees.”
