The Glen Bridge will be replaced this summer with a wider, sturdier concrete version that will be open for the fall 2017 semester.
Construction on the bridge will begin in June and will include new support towers, a sturdy concrete deck and an expanded walkway that will be more than a foot wider than the existing bridge to help with pedestrian flow.
“The new bridge doesn’t just replace what was there—it improves it,” says Director of Construction Services Scott Guckert. “We’re excited to reopen this pathway for students when they return in the fall.”
The bridge will have a similar look and feel to the one connecting the Union and the Union Garage.
