Meet Margaret McCormick

Clinical Assistant Professor, M.S. in Nursing Education

Margaret McCormick teaching a student"Towson University’s comprehensive Master of Science program in Nursing Education has broadened my understanding of education and given me the necessary tools to conduct evaluations in the clinical area and in the classroom setting. Courses in research, theory, and ethics helped me make a smooth transition from clinical practitioner to educator.

During my graduate program, I was offered a variety of clinical and non-clinical opportunities. My teaching practicum was at Villa Julie College and Mercy Medical Center and community practicum was at the Immigration Outreach Service Center in Baltimore City.

I belonged to a cohort group of nurses who took their courses together. This model is an innovative approach to graduate education because it provides both structure and support to students who are working while going to school. Classes were conveniently held in the evening at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and on Towson University's main campus.

At a time when there is a shrinking pool of qualified nursing faculty in Maryland, Towson University's graduate program in Nursing Education is allowing experienced nurses to develop the necessary skills for leadership positions in nursing.
