Student Parking

A valid parking permit is required Monday to Thursday from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Parking Rules and Regulations

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. On most weekdays during the fall and spring terms, the Towsontown, Glen and Union garages are full by 10 a.m. Ample parking in the lots near the stadium complex and free shuttle services are available.

Students may not register another student, faculty member or staff member’s vehicle to their parking account. Each student must have his or her own permit. Violators are subject to a $300 fine, vehicle towing at the owner's expense and other university sanctions. See Parking Regulations (PDF) for more information on towing policy and permit sharing.

All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit during enforcement hours: Monday – Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Virtual Permit System

Towson University uses a License Plate Recognition (LPR) system. This means no need to worry about a hang tag or a sticker for your vehicle. Your license plate will be used to verify that you have a valid permit. Make sure you enter your license plate information correctly on your permit application. Also, make certain 0’s (number) and Os (letter) are listed correctly.

  • Permits can be purchased for the Spring/Summer term (expires 8/31), and weekly or monthly.
  • If permits are purchased later in the year, they will be pro-rated on a weekly basis.  See the Estimated Prorated Parking Permit Rates chart here.

What's the Cost of Your Commute?

Commuter Costs

Have you ever wondered how much commuting to campus actually costs? The EPA website has several calculators that not only determine your actual commuting costs but also explain how much you can save with Hybrid and Plug-In vehicles.

See details about TU's Tigers Go Green  program and find out how you may be able to get a discounted permit when you drive a green vehicle to campus.

Change in Status

Residents

Residents who move off-campus must exchange their permit for a Core/Overflow permit or cancel their permit entirely. Residents that move to another on-campus housing area, must exchange their permit to corresponds to their new housing area or cancel their permit completely. You may exchange your permit online by submitting the Exchange/Cancellation of Parking Permit online form. Pro-rated refunds are only available before certain dates.

Freshmen Commuters

All freshmen commuters (less than 30 units earned) are only eligible to  purchase Overflow permits. Once a student earns 30 units, they are eligible to purchase a Core permit. If a student moves on or off campus, they must exchange their permit for the correct permit type for their current status (resident or commuter). Permits can now be exchanged by completing the Exchange/Cancellation of Parking Permit  form. For further questions, contact .

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking spaces are located in all garages and lots on campusThose who wish to use the designated accessible parking spaces are required to have both a state issued accessible permit/license plate assigned to them and a valid TU parking permit. A valid parking permit may be purchased through the eParking Portal on the Parking & Transportation Services home page.

Only the individual to whom the accessible permit/plate is issued may use an accessible space.
