Research

Towson University faculty and students are performing bold, inclusive and impactful research with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and new discoveries.

Research and Innovation

Towson University fosters interdisciplinary research and scholarship that breaks new ground, complements current knowledge and leads to solutions for the public good.

We pursue research across all disciplines at TU. From election security to uncovering local history, our research programs involve undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, the community, government and the private sector. Students participating in faculty-mentored research develop essential skills in problem-solving, innovation and collaboration that employers find extremely valuable.

Why Has TU Prioritized Research?

TU has made it an institutional priority to achieve an R2-Doctoral Carnegie Classification by 2027, a major stride that will further TU’s impact and significantly advance the university’s reputation as an academic leader.

To help reach this goal, the institution has committed to invest $14.5 million from 2021-2026 in its research enterprise.
