Global Trends Affecting Professional Communicators with a Focus on Russia and the USA, Russia

Gain a unique perspective on communication strategies with Towson University in St. Petersburg, Russia. Learn about global trends affecting professional communicators, with an emphasis on strategic communication (advertising, marketing, public relations, new media and journalism) in Russia and the USA.
The academic focus of the program is a comparative analysis of career opportunities and challenges for professional communicators in Russia and USA. TU Prof. Mark McElreath and his Russian colleagues will hold daily seminars and lead cultural tours (all conducted in English). Participants will gain a first-hand view of strategic communication in Russia and, from this perspective, engage in discussions about global trends affecting professionals in the communications field. Participants will have fun and lots of opportunities to gain new knowledge, skills and abilities that will make them more marketable in today's global economy.
St. Petersburg is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Often referred to as the Venice of the North, the city combines its fascinating Russian heritage with a distinctly European outlook. Considered the cultural heart of modern day Russia, St. Petersburg is rapidly regaining its reputation as one of the Great Cities of Europe.
Program highlights include a
Russian theatre performance, a cruise on the Neva River, and visits to the Hermitage
Museum, Church
of the Spilled Blood, Palace
Square, the Winter Palace, Catherine's
Palace and Pushkin Park.

Costs: $4,750 includes academic credit, health insurance, airfare, housing,
most meals, and excursions. Additional costs include $150 study abroad fee, any meals not included,
and personal expenses.
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.
Application Deadline: MARCH 15, 2010. Admission is on a rolling basis. Early application is advised as space is
limited.
Application Process: Fill out the application (PDF) and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $250 deposit required at time of application. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application (PDF) .
