Towson University is proud of its distinction as a community engaged university. TU emphasizes service-learning, community service, civic engagement programs, community-based partnerships, and other outreach projects as ways to connect with community members, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
The university’s engagement website, “TU in the Community”, provides a searchable database of community engagement projects, as well as resources for faculty, staff, students, and outside community members. With over 150 projects happening across the campus and in the community, Towson University’s students, faculty, and staff are actively engaged with partners throughout the region and beyond. While some projects are short term, others become embedded in the curriculum and mission of the university. The Cherry Hill Learning Zone is a fantastic example of this.
