Environmental Sustainability Programs

The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility hosts several environmental programs to create opportunities for learning and collective action as a campus community.

Most environmental programs occur in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability and the Eco Coalition, a networked community among student leaders that engages Towson University students in coordinated environmental education and action.

Campus Sustainability Month (annually in October)

A variety of educational programs and social media campaigns occur during Campus Sustainability Month to inspire the TU community to be sustainability change agents.

The Eco Fair is the Campus Sustainability Month signature program. The fair provides TU students with an opportunity to participate in a series of fun and engaging activities hosted by student groups and campus departments that are focused on environmental sustainability.

Campus Race to Zero Waste (annually in February and March)

The month-long Campus Race to Zero Waste competition with other colleges and universities consists of educational programs and social media campaigns that help TU advance campus recycling and waste reduction efforts.

Earth Month (annually in April)

A variety of educational programs and social media campaigns occur during Earth Month to raise awareness around the issues that affect our environment.

The Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice, Impact TU, and Arbor Day are Earth Month signature programs that provide students with educational and applied experiences.

Environmental Conference (annually in April)

This conference features presentations that address environmental issues affecting our world. It brings together TU students, staff and faculty as well as members of the larger Towson community to learn and identify a more sustainable path forward.
