Beating the Odds

Shodekeh, the College of Fine Arts & Communication’s innovator-in-residence, made history on Dec. 11, 2021, when he became the first professional breath artist and beatboxer to present a compositional work at New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall. He debuted his compositional piece with Sō Percussion. Earlier this year, he became the first hip-hop artist in Maryland to have an archive of his work, which can be found at TU’s Albert S. Cook Library.
