The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) at TU is celebrating the five-year anniversary of Fraternity & Sorority Life Day and they’re encouraging students, faculty and staff to join the festivities on Aug. 28.

Fraternities and sororities at TU continuously show up to serve, give, educate, support and motivate their communities. Through Fraternity & Sorority Life Day, FSL shows its appreciation and recognition of the meaningful work members commit to year-round.

On FSL Day, members are encouraged to show up to campus wearing their Greek letters and colors—faculty and staff included—to create a physical representation of how vast and diverse the fraternity and sorority communities are at TU.

Activities associated with the day include Meet the Greeks for prospective new members and the annual Lunch in Letters event for current members and Greek life affiliated faculty and staff.

At the Lunch in Letters event, active Greek life students enjoy a lunch and networking session with Greek life affiliated faculty and staff, followed by a group photo on the steps of Burdick Hall.

In years past, they have also received free lunch on campus, discounts at local businesses and more on FSL Day.

Roodinz Vital, director of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, believes the day is a great way for members to connect on campus and strengthen their bonds in the community.

“There are many stereotypes to Greek life. Having a day where all Greek life can be represented to new and returning students gives them the opportunity to see there are many options to choose from,” says Vital. “We just hope they find their place in the brotherhood or sisterhood right for them.”

Through Greek life at TU, members become part of a dynamic community, contribute to meaningful service for their local communities and build lifelong connections through shared experiences.

“There is a motto in Greek life ‘It's not four years, it’s for life!’” says Vital. “By connecting our students to the faculty and staff who share this identity, students to see how that motto rings true. It also creates new relationships that may not have happened occurred otherwise.”
