A message from President Ginsberg
President Ginsberg sent the following message to the TU community in response to rising antisemitism and Islamophobia on college campuses across the U.S.
Tigers –
Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, increases in antisemitism and Islamophobia are plaguing college campuses across our nation. The trauma of these incidents – and the impact of the horrific war abroad – has and will continue to impact many members of our TU community.
Our university echoes this week's letter from the U.S. Department of Education, which promises to provide a learning environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.
I've had the opportunity to speak with students and other members of the TU community with ties to the Middle East, including some who have personally lost loved ones in Gaza and in Israel. I’ve heard the immense pain experienced by many members of our university community, and while nothing I say can alleviate that feeling, I do hope to address any fear for your physical or emotional safety on our campus.
Although there are rising instances of hate-based discrimination and campus violence across the U.S., that cannot take place at Towson University. Violence and hatred will not be tolerated on our campus or allowed to become part of TU’s climate.
Our university is wholly committed to the safety of every person who calls TU home.
Please be sure to access the resources outlined below if you or a community member is in need of support:
- Report Harassing Behavior to the Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity

- Visit the Center for Student Diversity
We are committed to ensuring our campus remains a place where civil discourse is at the core of the educational experience. TU allows our community members the opportunity and space to gather, to voice their concerns and to engage in meaningful and respectful dialogue. We will continue to prioritize, and assure, that our community members remain safe, secure and that they are confident to celebrate their cultural and religious heritage.
I promise that our university leaders are here to listen, will continue to engage in conversation, and are working diligently to find solutions to issues that face our campus community.
Sincerely,
Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D.
President
