Last month I celebrated my first anniversary as Towson University’s 15th president. It has been a great year on our campus, which has become home for Elaine and me. The decision to join our TU community has been one of the very best decisions of my career—and the greatest honor of my life.

My first year at TU was focused on listening. I met with nearly 2,500 Tigers throughout our campus and around Maryland to learn about the history and the hopes of our university community. Students, employees, alumni, donors, parents and friends of TU shared their perspectives with me. They taught me about our tradition of excellence and the legacy TU holds as a leader in higher education that is focused on the public good. They shared their vision for the future—one where service, creativity and belonging are central to everything we do.

Thanks to these conversations, and in response to what I have heard, I have identified 10 priorities that will lift, leverage and elevate our strategic plan while also energizing our goals for TU’s future. These initiatives aim to uphold three important principles: 1) assuring that TU, above all, is a caring community – a place where Tigers feel seen, valued and respected; 2) promoting the impact and achievements of every member of our terrific university; and 3) strengthening the great state of Maryland.

TU is one of the many great universities IN Maryland. In our next era, we will enhance our impact as a great university FOR Maryland.

I invite you to learn more about these priorities and stay tuned for progress updates as we move forward. With the support of our entire university community, I am confident that TU will soar to even greater heights in 2025 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D.
President
