Dear TU faculty and staff colleagues —

The annual University System of Maryland (USM) compensation guidelines have been provided for the new fiscal year (FY25) which begins July 1, 2024. While the guidelines are comprehensive and cover several pay related topics, we are pleased to share the news that the FY25 budget provides for a 3% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and a merit pool to be distributed among eligible regular and contingent II faculty and staff. We will also be making pay adjustments for our eligible adjunct faculty and contingent I staff in the months ahead.

In addition to the COLA and merit adjustments, both the exempt and non-exempt pay structures will be adjusted, which will result in additional pay increases for staff employees whose pay falls below the minimum of the new pay structure.

Additional guidance on the specific eligibility, structure and process for the determination of individual pay increases will be shared this week from our Office of Human Resources. Please also look for additional information from your supervisor or HR partner regarding the annual performance review process.

This marks yet another year of investment in our faculty and staff who work so hard to support student success and our entire TU community. I thank all my TU colleagues for all you do and the highly consequential work in which you are engaged. Indeed, we “earn our stripes” every day.

On behalf of all university leadership — thank you! We all are deeply appreciative for all you do to make Towson University a great place to learn, work and grow.

All the best and Go Tigers!

Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D.
