The must-have apps at TU
Ten apps to help Tigers navigate campus, stay connected, make the most of TU
Balancing school, work and life on a dynamic campus can get overwhelming. Luckily there’s an app (or two) for that. From receiving alerts for new assignments to tracking shuttles in real-time, read on for 10 mobile apps that make your TU life a little easier.
Ace assignments
Blackboard is Towson's learning management system, where professors deliver syllabi, assignments, tests and other course materials. The Blackboard Learn mobile app enables you to access that content on your mobile device, including offering built-in calendars and assignment trackers to help you stay organized. The app is a great way to receive push notifications when new announcements, assignments, grades and materials are posted. Be sure to allow push notifications by completing a one-time setup in Blackboard. Available from the App Store and Google Play.
Track your ride
The TU TigerRide app makes tracking shuttle routes simple with real-time updates and detailed route information. The homepage displays all six campus shuttle routes, allowing you to select your desired route for arrival predictions, live bus maps and nearby bus stops. Whether you’re commuting to West Village, TU Arena or exploring off-campus routes like Lake-Walker or Kenilworth-Armory, the app helps you plan efficiently to avoid long waits. Available from the App Store and Google Play.
Stay active
The Campus Rec app enables you to easily register for fitness programs, classes and a range of activities, including booking personal training sessions and massage chair appointments and joining sports clubs. Use your TU NetID and password to login and access the range of amenities offered by Campus Rec. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Show your stripes
The Towson Gameday app is your ultimate TU athletics guide, packed with features to keep you connected to games and more. Access mobile ticketing, earn rewards for attending events, get intel on jersey giveaways and other promos and receive real-time alerts for games. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Get involved (and graduate)
Making the most of your TU experience starts with getting involved. The TU Event Guides app walks you through the signature programs that help that happen, including New Student Orientation, Welcome to TU and Family Weekend. You can also use Involved@TU to connect with student organizations, events and leadership opportunities. As you approach graduation, the Event Guides app will help you navigate the big day with details on tickets, regalia, accessibility and more. From your first day to your final walk across the stage, the app ensures you make the most of your TU journey. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Stay safe
Think of the SaferMobility app as your personal bodyguard, always with you. The app’s mobile escort feature uses geolocation tracking to send real-time updates to TUPD in case of an emergency. If you leave a designated safe area, it can trigger an alarm, instantly connecting you with the police via video and instant messaging. Whether you're walking alone on campus or in need of immediate assistance, SaferMobility ensures you're never alone. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Log in securely
Duo is an added security measure for Tigers logging into TU applications like email and Blackboard. Its multi-factor authentication helps protect your personal information and prevent cyber criminals from accessing TU accounts. Faculty and staff already use Duo; students have the option to opt-in now or be automatically enrolled over the next six weeks. By April 30, all students will be required to use Duo when accessing TU systems with a NetID. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Make laundry easier
Laundry is a chore; the Speed Queen app makes it a little easier. The official app for residence hall washers and dryers, Speed Queen allows students to pay for laundry using OneCard Doc dollars and sends timely notifications when laundry cycles are complete. It also allows students to see how busy laundry rooms are, helping reduce wait times. Available from the App store and Google Play.
Keep track of emails & meetings
Microsoft 365 helps you stay organized and productive with a range of tools that are accessible with your NetID and password. Use the Outlook app to manage emails, organize calendars and schedule meetings. OneNote makes taking and organizing class notes simple, while OneDrive allows you to store and share files with professors, classmates and supervisors. Students, faculty and staff can install the applications on up to five devices—making it easy to work and learn from anywhere. Search for each app in the App store and Google Play.
