PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
Welcome back, Tigers!
President Ginsberg shares university updates to kick off 2025
Towson University community:
I’m excited to see our campus come alive again as we welcome students back for the spring semester and continue the important, consequential work with which we are engaged together.
It has already been a busy month for many members of our community—for our facilities team, who have kept the university safe and warm during recent winter storms; for those who taught or took minimester classes; and for our dedicated faculty and staff, who instill the momentum that is propelling our university forward.
As the 2025 Maryland legislative session gets underway, I’ve been engaging with state leaders to advocate on TU’s behalf. As you know, the state currently is facing a multi-billion-dollar budget deficit, requiring all Maryland agencies to reduce spending this year and in the years ahead. Consequently, the governor’s proposed budget has reduced funding to the University System of Maryland, which would necessitate strategic adjustments here at TU for our university’s budget.
While the state’s fiscal challenges may test us, it will not compromise our commitment to our students, our resolve to continue our transformational work, or the positive trajectory of our university. During times of challenge, we must—and will—remain fully devoted to the success of our students and one another.
I’ll keep you updated in the months ahead. In the meantime, please take a moment to watch the video above to see the important strides we’ve already made this academic year and the exciting opportunities on our horizon.
I wish you all the best for an inspiring, productive and successful spring semester.
Go Tigers!
Sincerely,
Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D.
President
