Searching and applying for scholarships is one of the more daunting tasks for students paying for college, but the benefits literally pay off. Just look at TU student Oluwatobi Kolade.

Kolade, an information technology major from Gwynn Oak, Maryland, and a freshmen at Towson University has won the PNC Student Solution Scholarship. Kolade views this achievement as a tribute to his parents’ decision to emigrate to the U.S from Nigeria.

“Winning this scholarship is important because it will ease the financial burden of higher education, allowing me to focus on my goals,” Kolade told The Brief Scoop. “As the child of immigrants who sacrificed to give me opportunities, this award would honor their dedication and help me succeed while inspiring me to give back in the future.”

As one of the largest diversified financial services in the U.S., PNC Bank has developed a close connection with the Baltimore community. Bank leadership views secondary education as pivotal and has recently enhanced their scholarship from $2,000 to $10,000 for 12 “deserving students.”

“We’ve seen first-hand how accessing higher education can be life changing for students. Expanding our scholarship program further underscores our commitment to helping our region’s future leaders access the necessary resources they need to reach their higher education goals,” Harjas Sidhu, PNC Bank’s head of personal lending, student lending and FlexPay, said in a press release.

The PNC scholarship is just one of several opportunities to earn financial support during their time at TU. From admission and Honors College scholarships to TU Foundation and study abroad scholarships, students can find something that works for them.
