Strategic Plan Alignment

Towson University has established a rich history of academic success and a proven dedication to improving lives.

Building upon this established excellence, the Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science envisions a future in which the occupational therapy profession and the discipline of occupational science are composed of a diverse workforce with a wide representation among leaders and scholars. We aspire to be a profession whose knowledge, advocacy, and actions effectively combat injustice, oppression, and disparities for the individuals and communities we serve.

Under the umbrella of the university's strategic plan, we strive for departmental practices grounded in respect and inclusion that will enrich the educational experience of students and will promote excellence in research and practice, ultimately best serving the needs of society. Therefore, we are dedicated to advancing education, research, and interpersonal practices that acknowledge the inherent value of all people as we prepare occupational therapy practitioners and occupational scientists.

As a department, we are committed to intentional and reflective processes to identify and dismantle policies and practices that perpetuate inequity or oppression. Further, we commit to actively adopt policies and develop cultural norms that advance equity and belonging.
