About the Program:
The educational objectives of the program are to advance students’ language skills in Spanish to the Advanced level of oral and written proficiency and beyond, to further the students’ Hispanic cultural competence, to expose students to language acquisition theories, and to prepare a highly skilled and competitive workforce that can work with and serve a diverse population.

For students entering at the beginner level, the following sequence of courses applies:

Fall 2023:
SPAN 510 - Accelerated Beginner Spanish

Spring 2024:
SPAN 520 - Accelerated Intermediate Spanish

Fall 2024:
SPAN 591 - Advanced Grammar

Spring 2025:
SPAN 608 - Spanish in the Community

Fall 2025:
SPAN 665 - Film and Society in the Spanish Speaking World

Spring 2026:
SPAN 609 - Spanish Translation

Fall 2026:
SPAN 680 - Hispanic Cultures in the Media

For students entering at the advanced level, the following sequence of courses applies:

SPAN 520 - Accelerated Intermediate Spanish

Fall 2023:
SPAN 591 - Advanced Grammar

Spring 2024:
SPAN 608 - Spanish in the Community

Fall 2024:
SPAN 665 - Film & Society in the Spanish Speaking World

SPAN 609 - Spanish Translation

SPAN 680 - Hispanic Cultures in the Media


Reduced Program Costs

  • Through a contractual agreement with your employer, tuition for courses are discounted approximately 50%.
  • The TU application fee of $45 is waived.
  • Participants are responsible for purchasing course texts.
  • A required electronic portfolio software program, with a one-time fee of $120, will be used in all College of Education graduate programs.
