Something people might not know about TU.
Although we are a large public university, our classrooms feel like those of a small
college. Most courses have the same number of students found in the average Maryland
public school classroom, or even fewer, allowing students and professors to build
meaningful relationships with one-on-one direction more easily.
My advice to anyone who's applying.
Use your application materials to tell us your story. We review applications holistically,
so anything you can say that gives us an idea of you as a three-dimensional person—not
just a disembodied list of qualifications—will help us in deciding whether or not
this school will be a good fit for you.
Why I work in admissions.
I have a lifelong love of learning and never wanted to leave school myself. Unfortunately,
my four years as an undergraduate are past, but I can continue to grow and professionally
develop among other lifelong learners by helping students find a similarly positive
college experience.
What I love most about my job.
I love the relationships I get to form with students and educational professionals
on a daily basis. It’s my job to learn—about TU, about prospective students, about
current students, academic programs, schools in the area—and every day ends with me
knowing more than I did the day before, usually about topics I never would have thought
to research otherwise. Specifically working with prospective first year students,
I can’t overstate the value I get from relationships with passionate high schoolers
because they are the future of humanity.
What I like most about TU's location.
I love that Towson’s location is a safe area for pedestrians and commuters. As a physically
diminutive woman who is car free by choice, the fact that I feel very safe navigating
both the sidewalks and public bus routes is noteworthy and a big factor in why I chose
to move here. You will see many bikers, walkers, and runners all around at any time
of day.
