Biography

Economist Nazya Ahmed works closely with other economists and research associates to provide economic forecasts, economic commentary, and data analysis using statistical software and input/output models to tackle pressing economic challenges in the state of Maryland. She assists in developing comprehensive research plans and ensures that research objectives are met.

Before joining RESI, Nazya was an intern with the Development Finance Corporation, a small government agency whose mission is to encourage private capital mobilization in overseas investments. There, she worked on project funding and wrote economic clearance memos. She was also a short-term project consultant with the Inter-American Development Bank where she collected data for a water pricing project in the Caribbean. During her master’s program, she also conducted an independent research project on the impact of global declining fertility rates on labor force participation.

Education

Nazya holds a B.A. in economics with a minor in medical sociology from Stony Brook University and an M.A. in economic development from American University. She is a class of 2024 Presidential Management Fellowship finalist.

Personal

Outside of work, Nazya loves reading, cooking, crafting, and spending time with her niece and two nephews. Her latest craft obsession is polymer clay jewelry making.
