Biography
Lavonne Adams, Ph.D., RN, CCRN, is an associate professor at Towson University in
the College of Health Professions, Department of Nursing. She received her Ph.D. in
leadership and M.S. in nursing from Andrews University, her BSN from Wright State
University, and her A.S. in nursing from Kettering College. She has published and
presented on her research interests of leadership and management, disaster preparedness
and surge capacity for disasters. Dr. Adams’ professional background includes critical
care and emergency nursing.
Her voluntary roles have focused on disaster preparedness and response, including
service as a reviewer for Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness, member of the Society for Advancement of Disaster Nursing, volunteer for the American
Red Cross, previous member of Fort Worth Safe Communities Coalition’s Advisory Board,
and as a past chair of Tarrant County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
