Dr. Todd joined the Department of Family Science in 2011. She received a Ph.D. in Family Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2011.
Dr. Todd’s primary interests are on the family relationships of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or queer (LGBTQ) persons and how families understand and negotiate sexual and gender identity as a unit. Within this main research area, Dr. Todd is focused specifically on 1) sexual identity development of LGBT youth, 2) family relationships throughout the transition process, 3) family perceptions of bisexual and/or pansexual identity, and 4) qualitative methodologies related to underserved populations. Pursuant to these research interests, Dr. Todd has worked with both individuals who identify within the LGBT spectrum and their family members focusing on three developmental areas: 1) LGBT youth and their families, 2) romantic relationships of LGBT persons, and 3) LGBT families and their children.
