Kyohei Abe received his M.F.A. in photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Abe is the founding director and chief curator of the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography. In addition to his curatorial practice, Abe’s research investigates dimensionality and structured play through the constructed photographic space. Abe’s work is in museum collections nationwide including the Museum Fine Arts, Houston, and the West Collection, Oaks, Pennsylvania. His work was recently published in The Collector’s Eye: A Photographer’s View of His Contemporaries by Schilt Publishing. Additionally, his work “Imaginary Scapes” was recently exhibited through Jason Shin Gallery in South Korea.
