Phil Davis

Biography

Before coming to Towson University Phil Davis worked as the resident Multimedia Specialist at the Digital Media Center of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Phil is also an active video editor, graphics producer, and animator with experience in traditional hand drawn and stop motion techniques as well as digital 2D techniques. His videos, animations, and installations have been screened and exhibited at national and international festivals and galleries. His hand drawn animated short, Cord, has won awards including the Best Central New York Film Award at the Syracuse International Film Festival in 2005. He worked as an animator and foley sound artist for the feature film, The Beast Pageant, which played at many film festivals including Slamdance and the Maryland Film Festival. His animated music video for "The Living Things" by the Spinto Band was recently featured on NPR's All Songs Considered and has won Best Music Video Awards at the Animation Block Party (Brooklyn, NY), Tindirindis International Animated Film Festival (Vilnius, Lithuania), SoDak Animation Festival (South Dakota), and the Bradford Animation Festival (Bradford, United Kingdom). Phil's recent work involves collaborating on animation with Sujan Shrestha (TU Art Department) projected live with dance performance by Vincent Thomas (TU Dance Department).
