Sarah Parker Hughes, M.S.

Biography
As a full-time faculty member of Towson University’s Department of Communication Studies, and the Director for the Public Communication Center, Sarah Parker Hughes offers students a wealth of expertise from her 25 years working with national nonprofits, associations, and the hospitality industry. Sarah has advised organizations large and small ranging from The American Heart Association, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Schuyler Line Navigation Company, Girls on the Run, and The World Wildlife Fund to Hospice of the Chesapeake, Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, BankAnnapolis, Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat, and Kleynimals.
Sarah’s areas of expertise include public speaking, organizational communication, leadership and business communication, strategic planning, crisis communications, non-profit management, public relations and social media strategy.
Sarah is an accredited member (APR) of the Public Relations Society of America and a member of the National Communication Association and the National Association of Communication Centers. She earned a Master of Science degree in Communications Management from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College).
In her spare time, Sarah is a competitive rower for the Annapolis Rowing Club. She resides in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband and their three daughters.
