Danielle d'Amico is a multimedia artist working with video, installation, and immersive technologies. Her work is grounded in a queer ecological perspective, which views humans as integrated with the natural world and its systems — systems forever evolving as a result of social and historical influences. Formally and thematically, her work focuses on the intimate overlaps between the beyond human world, humanity and the technological realm.
Her work has been screened and exhibited in Baltimore at venues such as XoXo Gallery, SNF Parkway Theatre, Gallery CA and Goucher's Gormley Gallery. Notable U.S. screenings include Sara's (NY), Gardenship (NJ) and Spacetime Projects (Miami). She has presented her research and creative work at international conferences, including ISEA, PostSensorium RIXC Art Science Festival and Taboo, Transgression, Transcendence. Her immersive projection installation What to Expect When You're Expecting was awarded the Johns Hopkins Saul Zaentz Innovation Grant in 2019.
From 2021 to 2024, Danielle worked as a studio manager and video editor at Hartlove-Goodyear, a Baltimore-based video production company specializing in story-focused microdocumentaries for nonprofit, university and government-affiliated clients. She has worked as a freelance video editor since 2017, collaborating with independent filmmakers, news outlets, universities and nonprofits.
She is a founding member of the Baltimore Women’s Media Alliance, which hosts monthly meetups to build community among women and nonbinary media makers and advocate for equity in the field.
As an Assistant Professor of Media Production at Towson University, she teaches courses in media production and post-production.
