Biography
Lynn Patterson is the College of Fine Arts and Communication's first Professor of Practice. She
was the developer and director of the Recording Arts, Media and Production program
in the Baltimore City Public School System, which specialized in training youth in
the technical and creative aspects of audio, video, broadcast, film, motion capture,
game development, graphics studies and robotics. Professor Patterson brings experience
from developing trainings, courses, and programs for Baltimore City Schools. As a
Master teacher, she led trainings for the Maryland State Department of Education Interactive
Media and Production program and consulted with and developed the core courses for
Harford Community College's Interactive Media Production's AAS degree focusing on
UX and virtuality. She was a Baltimore City Teacher of the Year finalist and semi-finalist
and has won numerous other awards and citations. In 2008, Professor Patterson served
as a PI for the NSF Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) grant, later serving as
an RET in 2020 with Morgan State's Smart Cities, focusing on computer vision and machine
learning. Her current research interests include the intersection of STEM-focused
learning and audio production, and diversifying the fields of entertainment, production,
and engineering.
