Biography
Meghan Creek received her Ph.D. in Music in 2023 from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her dissertation is titled “Persistence and Resistance: Examining the White Racial Frame in Metal Music.”
Drawing on methodologies from historical musicology and ethnomusicology, her work analyzes how systemic racism and white supremacy shape the metal scene in the Western World. She has presented her work at various regional and national conferences, including the Society for Ethnomusicology, the American Musicological Society and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.
