M.S. in Computer Science

With an M.S. in Computer Science from Towson University, you will meet the demands of the growing and changing field of information technology. The program’s comprehensive curriculum will provide you with a solid scientific and technical foundation for pursuing either doctoral work or advanced positions in business, industry and government. Graduates find high-profile jobs as software developers, web developers, computer security analysts and e-commerce analysts. If you don’t have an academic background in computer science or a related field, you can complete prerequisite course work in Computer Science and Mathematics.

M.S. in Applied Information Technology

Students can complete requirements for one of eight graduate certificates and can take an additional six graduate-level courses to complete the M.S. in Applied Information Technology. The AIT curriculum is designed to focus on the most relevant and timely topics in the AIT field, preparing students for positions in cutting edge information technology fields. The program is designed both for those with computer science/information technology related backgrounds, and for those looking to change career fields. Its eight certificates can be earned in a year, increasing the marketability of students immediately.

Ph.D. Information Technology

The Ph.D. program in Information Technology offered by Towson University’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences in collaboration with the Center of Applied Information Technology, prepares students for academic, research, government and state of the art industry positions.

About half of our alumni are currently working as tenure-track assistant professors or research scientists across the country and abroad.

The doctoral program requires 18 credits of course work, a qualifying examination and a minimum of 24 credits of dissertation beyond a master’s program. Similar to any other Ph.D. program in the country, doctoral students have to demonstrate research capabilities and publish in reputed journals or conferences in order to graduate.
