Student Resources
The Science Complex, located on York Road, houses the Jess & Mildred Fisher College
of Science and Mathematics, the departments of biological sciences, chemistry, and
physics & geosciences. This modern structure contains up-to-date facilities for instruction
and research. Available instrumentation includes scanning and transmission electron
microscopes, a laser spectroscopy system, ultra-centrifuges, a gas chromatograph/mass
spectrometer, visible UV and infrared spectrometers, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers,
microcomputers and computer terminal access, photographic laboratories, physio-graphs
and radioisotope utilization, and monitoring facilities.
The Albert S. Cook Library, adjacent to Smith Hall, offers 150,000 e-books, 1,200 print journal titles, 200 electronic databases, 50,000 electronic journals, and 7.5 million additional items in the University System of Maryland.
