The Honors College provides challenging opportunities for the most highly qualified and motivated students seeking intellectual and personal growth. Students in the Honors College pursue majors in every academic discipline at Towson University and complete Core Curriculum requirements in addition to Honors requirements.

What Kinds of Courses Are Part of the Honors Academic Experience?

Honors College students choose from a wide variety of specially-designed Honors courses, including:

• Honors College seminars — original topics based on an instructor's area of interest that incorporate independent writing projects
• Honors enhanced courses — special sections of already existing and highly demanded courses at Towson University
• Honors electives — options include independent study, internships, directed readings, a thesis, study abroad or a capstone experience.

How Do I Maintain Good Standing in the Honors College?

After the completion of your first semester in the Honors College, you must meet the following requirements to continue to receive the Honors College Scholarship and remain in good standing:

• You must maintain continuous full-time status in the university by enrolling and completing at least 12 units each fall and spring semester.
• You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in Honors courses, and an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (all students with 89 or fewer completed units), or 3.2 for seniors (all students with 90 or more completed units).*
• You must meet all curricular and co-curricular requirements.

 *A cumulative GPA of 3.3 is required to graduate from the Honors College.
