Towson University's Department of Theatre Arts opened Toni Morrison’s "The Bluest Eye" last Thursday in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts. The production is directed by TU professor Tavia La Follette. The story, about a year in the life of a young black girl named Pecola who develops an inferiority complex due to her eye color and skin appearance, is set in Lorain, Ohio, against the backdrop of America's Midwest during the years following the Great Depression.
