The 2016-17 Towson University cheerleading team struck gold this past week at the
National Cheer Association College cheerleading camp at Boston University.
The team of 26 women competed against teams from around the country, in and out of
their division. The women won the best routine in the All-Girl Division I category
and scored the second-highest overall score in the camp. This led the team to a gold-paid
bid to the National Championships in April in Daytona, Florida.
The team success would not have been achieved without the help of Doc the Tiger, Towson's
mascot, wowing the camp. Doc won best all-around mascot for the entire camp and received
his own gold-paid bid to nationals. This spring the team will attempt to bring back
their third national championship title to Towson U.
