President Schatzel, four alumni named to Daily Record’s Most Influential Marylanders list
The honorees were recognized for their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership in Maryland in 11 categories.

Towson University President Kim Schatzel and alumni Kevin Davis ‘91, Mary Hastler ‘88, Deb Tillett ’76, and Casey Baynes ‘98 were among 51 individuals named to the 2017 Influential Marylanders list by the Daily Record.
The honorees were recognized for their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership in Maryland in civic leadership, communications, education, finance, freestyle, general business, health care, law, philanthropy, real estate and technology.
Davis is the Baltimore City Commissioner of Police. He and Hastler, the CEO of the Harford County Public Library System, were honored for civic leadership. Schatzel was recognized for contributions to education, while Casey Cares founder Baynes was an honoree for philanthropy, and Tillett, the president and CEO of Emerging Technology centers and the former chair of the Board of Advisors of TU’s College of Business and Economics, was honored for contributions in the technology field.
