It’s football season at Towson University, and after three road games to start the year, the Tigers are finally back home at Johnny Unitas Stadium this Saturday.
The Tigers will take on The Citadel in the team’s first home game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled at 4 p.m., with parking lots opening at noon.
Towson University football starts the season with a record of 2-1, and earned its first victory over a top-10 opponent on Sept. 15, taking down then-No.10 Villanova 45-35 in its CAA opener.

The Tigers also come into the game nationally ranked in the STATS FCS Poll at No. 25. It’s the first time the Tigers have been ranked since the 2014 season.
With the home opener right around the corner, here is key information all TU fans, students, faculty and staff need to know before they get to Unitas Stadium.
Celebrating TU Football’s 50th anniversary
The 2018 season marks the 50th anniversary of Towson University football, and on Saturday we will be celebrating
all of the student-athletes who helped build the Tiger Football program.
Over 300 Towson University football alumni will return for Saturday’s game. On Friday,
alumni participated in a bull and oyster roast inside SECU Arena, and there will be
a special football alumni tailgate on Friday in Parking Lot 21. The team will also
be gathered in the south red zone during the game.
The current members of the TU Football team will also honor the past by wearing special throwback uniforms. The uniforms are a throwback to the mid-90s teams, featuring gold tops with "Towson" and jersey numbers in black, outlined in white. The uniforms are completed with black pants with white stripes on the sides. The helmets will have the symbolic block T, a staple of Towson helmets in previous seasons.
This season will also see an introduction of a special plaque honoring the 1969 inaugural Towson University football team. The plaque will be located on the concourse level of Unitas Stadium.
Gold Rush
As its been the tradition at TU, the first home football game of the season is being dubbed the “Gold Rush” game. Tiger fans are encouraged to wear gold to the game, and the first 1,000 students will receive a free “Gold Rush” t-shirt.
Parking Information
For Saturday’s game, Lots 20 and 21 are for permit holders only. Lots 13 and 14 are open to the general public, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will also be overflow parking at the University Union Garage.

Towson University students, faculty and staff can receive ONE free ticket by using their Towson University OneCards. Companion tickets can be bought for just $10 at the TU Box Office outside Unitas Stadium.
Tickets for the general public can be bought online at TowsonTigers.com, through phone by calling 1-855-TU-TIGER, or on the day of the game at the Towson Athletics’ box office outside Unitas Stadium.
New Tiger Zone
New to the pregame festivities is the all new Tiger Zone. Located in Lot 13, the Tiger Zone is free to all fans and will feature a DJ, yard games, photo station and free food. Come hang out and get ready to cheer on the Tigers.
President Kim Schatzel cookout
Towson University President Kim Schatzel will be hosting a free cookout for Towson University faculty and staff. The cookout starts at 2 p.m. and will be located at SECU Plaza outside SECU Arena.
Faculty and Staff had to have registered for the event to attend, and will receive their game ticket during the event.
Family Fun Zone
The Family Fun Zone will return to the east end of the stadium for the 2018 season. This Saturday the Family Fun Zone will feature inflatables, a face painter, a balloon artist and animals from Maryland Zoo.
The Greene Turtle on Track
Also back for the 2018 season is The Greene Turtle on the Track. Located in east end of the stadium, The Greene Turtle on the Track will feature food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages for fans who are of age.
