25 things TU students should do before they graduate

Beyond the top-rated academic experience, Towson University has a lot to offer on its campus. Whether it’s the different events, food, clubs and organizations, or even the way students enjoy campus, TU has something for everyone.

With the semester finally fully under way, we tried to make a bucket list for Towson University students that lets them experience the best of what campus, and the community, have to offer.

Take a picture with the tiger statues around campus

Whether it’s on your first day of classes, or the day you graduate, nothing says Towson University student like taking a picture with the four tiger statues around campus. And after you take a picture, give the tiger’s ear a quick rub for good luck!

Get a late night snack from PAWS

Open until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends, PAWS in the University Union offers some of the best late-night snack food around. Recommendations included the mozzarella sticks and chili cheese fries.

Participate in the Big Event

Serving as Towson University’s largest day of community service, The Big Event gives students a chance to leave their mark both on the campus community, as well as the local community.

Check out the annual Homecoming Block Party

Held the Friday of Homecoming Week, this annual event provides students with music, games, food and themed activities to get you into the Towson University spirit.

Tailgate before a Towson Tigers football game

Grab your friends and head over to Johnny Unitas Stadium to have some fun before cheering on Baltimore’s College Team!

Visit one of the Mega Job and Internship Fairs

Held every semester at SECU Arena, the Career Center’s Mega Job and Internship Fairs connect students with over 200 potential employers.

Find a club or organization at the Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs

Looking to find your place on campus? Well every semester, TU hosts an Involvement Fair which gives students a chance to meet and interact with every student club and organization on campus.

Join the TU Marching Band when they play the “Sportscenter Theme”

One of Towson University’s top traditions is when the band cues up the theme song to the longstanding ESPN highlight show. Whether it’s during a football or basketball game, or just a parade, students shouldn't hesitate to sing and sway along.  

Get your picture taken by Kanji

Towson University photographer Kanji Takeno is always running around campus with his camera and ready to take pictures. So if you see him around, don’t hesitate to smile!

Take a ride on one of the campus Spin Bikes

Sometimes you get tired of walking So grab a ride on one of the hundreds of orange Spin Bikes around campus. Rides cost less than a dollar, and they provide an easier way to get to class.

Go To TigerFest

TigerFest gives TU students the chance to see some of music’s hottest artists right here on campus. Past acts include 2 Chainz, Young Thug, G-Eazy, Steve Aoki, Rae Sremmurd and so much more.

Spend a snow day on campus

While Towson University already has a beautiful campus, there’s just something about it when it’s covered in snow. It might be because it’s more fun to go sledding than walking to class.

Participate in a Study Abroad Program

Whether it’s for a full semester, or just a studying overseas for a few weeks, TU offers plenty of chances to see the world, and learn about other countries and cultures.

Try to complete “The Jungle” at the Rec Center

Inspired by the obstacles on American Ninja Warrior, “The Jungle” gives students a chance to show off their athleticism at TU’s newly renovated Rec Center at Burdick Hall.

Explore Uptown Towson

Some of the best restaurants and retail in Baltimore County are less than a mile away from campus! There are even special events like the weekly Farmer’s Market, Feet on the Street, and the annual Fourth of July Parade.

Take in a performance by the College of Fine Arts students and faculty

Looking for a more cultured night out? Each year, Towson University hosts over 100 events showcasing the students in its College of Fine Arts. This includes staged plays, art exhibitions, concerts, film festivals and more.

Attend Dance the Madness!

Held during Homecoming Week, Dance the Madness lets members of TU’s Greek community showcase their acting and dancing skills. It also gives the campus and community its first look at the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Bring the family to Family Weekend

Each fall, Family Weekend [BROKEN LINK]gives parents, siblings, grandparents and the whole family the perfect opportunity to enjoy TU’s campus with events designed to showcase all TU has to offer. This includes the annual Family Weekend Towson Tigers Football game, and the “Largest Crab Feast in Maryland.”

Attend the Diversity Speaker Series

This long-standing tradition brings activists, educators and entertainers to campus to share their experiences and discuss social issues that are relevant to the TU community. Past presenters include comedian Hasan Minhaj, actress Laverne Cox and rapper Common.

Take a selfie with President Schatzel

Ever since she stepped on campus, one of President Kim Schatzel’s favorite things to do is interact with students. So if you see her around campus, don’t hesitate to ask for a selfie.

Attend Tiger Pride Day in Annapolis

Help turn the state capital black and gold! Each spring Towson University students, faculty, staff and alums travel to Annapolis to meet and network with state lawmakers and legislators.

See the stars at the Watson-King Planetarium

Located in Smith Hall, the Watson-King Planetarium is TU’s primary tool for public outreach in astronomy. Shows take place on the third Friday of every month, and are open to the public, as well as the TU community.

Study at night in the CLA Building

Students should always study and be prepared for quizzes and exams. One of the best places to study on campus is the CLA Building at night, which features some of the most beautiful lights on campus.
