Join in the 9/11 Day of Remembrance
Campus events throughout September 11 offer opportunities to reflect and remember

Towson University’s campus community is asked to join in a day to remember the lives of the victims of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, when 19 al-Qaida militants hijacked four planes to carry out suicide attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., killing nearly 3,000 people.

Join President Schatzel and the campus community at a 9/11 observance honoring the 2,996 victims of the September 11, 2001 attack. Of those victims, 69 Marylanders were lost, including TU alumna Honor Elizabeth Wainio '95.
Moment of Silence | 8:46 a.m. | TU Campus
Pay your respects with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the attack began.
Reflect and Serve | 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Freedom Square
Visit Freedom Square to share your personal reflections on the chalkboards and explore opportunities to volunteer with the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility.

Elizabeth Wainio Memorial Communications Scholarship
The Towson University Alumni Association is hosting the Annual Honor Elizabeth Wainio ’95 Communication Scholarship Fundraiser, Saturday, November 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Ropewalk Tavern, Federal Hill, 1209 S. Charles St., Baltimore, Maryland. The fundraiser and silent auction celebrates the life of Honor Elizabeth Wainio ’95 and raises funds for current TU communications majors to achieve their dreams.
Ticket are $50 per person of which $35 is a tax-deductible contribution to the scholarship. The event is open to the public. For tickets or to make a donation, call Alumni Relations at 410-704-2234 or email the office.
