TU men's lacrosse earns huge win against No. 1 Loyola

Towson University men's lacrosse earned one of the biggest wins in Tigers history Wednesday night, toppling top-ranked Loyola at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Towson University tops No. 1 Loyola in men's lacrosse

The Towson men's lacrosse team downed the No. 1 team in the country Wednesday night, outlasting cross-town rivals Loyola, 12-10, at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

The win keeps the Tigers unbeaten at 4-0, and undoubtedly will improve their national ranking from the No. 7 slot they held heading into Wednesday's affair.

Brendan Sunday scored four goals to lead the TU attack in the Tigers' first win over a top-ranked opponent since 1992 — an upset that also came at the expense of the Greyhounds.

The Tigers led, 6-5, at halftime, and the two teams matched that scoring in the second half, in part due to some clutch saves from goalie Tyler Canto down the stretch.

The Tigers next game is March 8 vs. Jacksonville University in North Carolina. TU's next home game for men's lacrosse is March 23 vs. University of Denver. Buy tickets here.
