The No. 11 Towson University football team earned its first victory in dramatic fashion, using a six-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter for a 28-21 comeback win over The Citadel to start the year 1-0.
The Tigers led early and The Citadel stormed back to take the lead before TU rallied for the win.
"Week one wins against quality opponents are hard to come by," Tigers coach Rob Ambrose said. "It is a battle of who makes the least amount of mistakes, and in the end, it was us. It shows the ability that we have character: we put together a really good drive at the end of the game."
The Tigers will have their first home game of the season Saturday, hosting North Carolina Central at Johnny Unitas Stadium at 6 p.m.
